Have you met Valerie Kemp?
Valerie Kemp is the owner and founder of #powherperformance and she’s definitely someone you want to meet.
Valerie Kemp, the founder of PowHER Performance, Inc., is passionate about helping people and her community, one person at a time. A graduate of Lipscomb University, Valerie has owned and operated an accounting firm in Ashland City, Tennessee for the last 15 years. Her family has deep roots in the Ashland City community going back generations. She is an active member of her community volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and various other organizations. Outside the office and gym, she enjoys yoga, trying new restaurants, and spending time with her nieces and nephews.
Her love for people and her community led her to open PowHER, Performance. Having struggled with weight and body issues for most of her life, Valerie understands what it is like to look in the mirror and not like the person staring back. In her journey to love the person looking back at her, she found a team approach incorporating yoga, strength training, massage, and stress and trauma therapy in her daily life worked wonders.
The catalyst for the creation of PowHER Performance happened while at a retreat center in Tuscon, Arizona. After having suffered the loss of her father, Valerie went to Tuscon for introspection and to learn techniques for coping with the grief she felt. While there, she felt called to open a boutique-style fitness center that focused on a total wellness approach incorporating services for the mind, body and spirit. Valerie feels strongly about helping others learn to love themselves because she didn’t love herself for years.
